Former Qatari footballer Adel Malallah was thrilled to have participated in the final draw ceremony for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
The former defender represented Qatar at the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1981, when they won the silver medal, and at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament in 1984. Malallah was one of the eight draw assistants for the draw ceremony along with Cafu (Brazil), Lothar Matthäus (Germany), Ali Daei (IR Iran), Bora Milutinovic (Serbia/Mexico), Jay-Jay Okocha (Nigeria), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) and Tim Cahill (Australia).
Malallah said that his participation in the draw ceremony was a proud moment for him. "Qatar is hosting the largest sporting events in football, and will fascinate everyone with a wonderful organization that will bring the world together on Arab land, and with an Arab culture that will allow the world to get acquainted closely with Qatar and the culture of its people, their love for sports and football, and their ability to organize well sports events," he said.
Malallah said that there are no easy matches in the World Cup, and whoever qualifies for the World Cup must be more eager to provide his best level, pointing out that the tournament is full of teams that have their reputation and history in World Cup tournaments.
The former Qatari national team captain confirmed that there is no fear for the Qatar national team in the first group, and that he trusts the players' ability to provide distinguished levels, he added that the group in which the Qatari national team signed with Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands is a strong group by all standards, but the confidence is available in the people of Qatar to provide the best levels of performance.
Malallah noted that the world will follow a remarkable and exceptional tournament, in which the fan will be able to watch more than one match per day, which has not happened before in the history of the World Cup tournaments.
