Saudi Arabia’s French coach Herve Renard Friday said his team will have to be at their best to counter their rivals slotted in the Group C. Renard was yesterday speaking with the media after Saudi Arabia were tagged along with former World Cup champions Argentina, Mexico and Poland in Group C of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Renard said Saudi Arabia’s journey at the 2022 event will start Argentina who remained ‘one of the best teams in the world after winning the Copa America title’ recently. Renard said Poland with their mercurial scorer Robert Lewandowski ‘will present an interesting challenge’ to all the teams. The French coach urged Saudi football fans to turn up in large numbers for their matches as his team would ‘feel motivated to deliver a strong show’. Also yesterday, President of the Tunisian Football Federation Wadie Jary said: “Tunisia’s Group is a tough one. The group includes France, Denmark, and the winners from UAE and Australia clash, and Peru.”
He added: “But I have confidence that the Tunisian team will give their best during the competition.”
He also said he was particularly excited that Tunisia will face France given they are the defending champions and the large Tunisian community lives in France. Jary said he was disappointed that Algeria and Egypt could not qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Tunisian coach Jalel Kadri said: “We are delighted that our team will participate in the World Cup for the sixth time. Tunisia’s participation in the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar last year would certainly help us to prepare better for the World Cup. When we arrive for the World Cup, we will be familiar with the stadiums and the atmosphere.”
