The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) has organised a business dinner in honour of the visit of the Global Advisory Council of the Wilson Centre headed by CEO Mark Green on the sidelines of the recently-held Doha Forum.
The dinner was held at the Majlis of QBA second deputy chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani al-Thani to discuss ways to support trade exchange and boost commercial activities between the two countries.
Also attending the event were QBA board members Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani and Saud al-Mana, as well as QBA members Khalid al-Mannai, Sheikh Turki bin Khalid bin Thani al-Thani, and Abdul Baset al-Shaibi, in addition to QBA deputy GM Sarah Abdallah.
From Wilson Centre, a group of former ambassadors and economists attended the dinner, including James Jeffrey, Alexander Farley, Jorge Woldenberg, and Marissa Khurma.
Sheikh Khalid stressed that Qatari-US relations “are witnessing continuous development in all sectors,” highlighting the interest of Qatari businessmen in the American market.
He said there are already many Qatari investments in either the public or private sectors, as the US is one of the favourable investment destinations for the Qatari businessman. This reflects the depth of the historical relations between Qatar and America, he stressed.
Green pointed out the need to develop economic, commercial, and investment relations, and to provide platforms for the private sector to build companies that contribute to maximising its role in the economic process.
He stressed that Qatari-US economic relations “are very strong,” and that the Gulf region has become a business centre with major projects and investments. Green also praised the strength of the Qatari economy, which has proven, through various difficulties, its ability to withstand and overcome challenges.
Sheikh Nawaf underscored the need to follow up regularly on developing the economic relations between both countries, emphasising that the Qatari private sector is always looking forward to exploring new opportunities.
