Commercial Bank on Tuesday inaugurated its first exclusive Sadara Youth lounge at the Qatar University Metro Station branch, an offshoot of a tripartite co-operation among the bank, Qatar University and Qatar Rail.
This branch allowed Qatar University students to unleash their creativity and design their own space through a competition held back in 2020.
Commercial Bank adopted a concept designed by the students and brought it to life. It embraces creativity and innovation: meaningful to students, yet it can still be fun.
“The opening of the Sadara Youth lounge emphasises Commercial Bank’s commitment to innovation and delivering exceptional customer experiences. We are delighted that our joint efforts with the students and the University have been brought forward through the opening of this lounge and the introduction of our new series of presentation topics, CBTalks,” Amit Sah, EGM, Head of Retail Banking said.
Sadara Youth is an exclusive programme dedicated to the Qatari youth of aged 18-25 years, offering them an exclusive experience and a gateway to premium banking that understands their needs and aspirations.
Adam Mohamed Ali Fadlalla, acting Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Qatar University, said this lounge would provide a platform for Qatar University students to network and enhance their understanding on banking; it will be an avenue to expand the flow of ideas and development of the local youth as leaders of the future.
"We are looking forward to strengthening the relationship with the bank and co-operating with them to deliver the best services to our future generation,” he added.
Since its inception, Commercial Bank has been committed to supporting Qatar’s national development by giving back to the wider community through a comprehensive range of meaningful corporate social responsibility programmes aiming to spreading awareness in the society in addition to educating and guiding its customers in their banking journey with the bank, according to Nayef al-Beshri, AGM and Head of Branches.
"The distinctive style of this branch fulfils the bank’s target in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030, and caters to the needs of this segment, specially our Sadara Youth members and also provides them with the ideal location to discuss their banking alongside a fully functional mobile app. We are sure that this branch will attract the interest of the youth segment particularly from Qatar University to come and explore,” he said.
“What makes this location special is that it is the first time that Commercial Bank will be present in an educational sector and Qatar University will give access to younger generations,” he told Gulf Times in an interview.
Asked whether this initiative would be replicated across Qatar Rail lines that pass through other educational facilities; he said: “The penetration in this client segment is favoured by the bank and I think there will be appetite in the future to assess how well this specific location is performing in terms of achieving what it is intended for.”
Commercial Bank would continue to bring the latest products and services to customers while providing guidance and education specifically for the youth segment. With a core belief that everything is possible, the bank aims to lead the market by delivering innovative unique offerings.
