Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)'s Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) has been designated as a Center of Excellence for using Rezum Therapy, it is a non-surgical procedure to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dr. Khalid Al Rumaihi was also honored as one of the pioneers in the Middle East and North Africa region in the use of Rezum treatment for patients with an enlarged prostate.



The Center of Excellence is usually awarded to physicians and treatment centers that have a high degree of expertise in this world-leading technology while providing effective and lasting treatment for men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Dr. Khalid Al Rumaihi is one of the first doctors and pioneers in the Middle East and North Africa to use Rezum as a non-invasive procedure for patients suffering from enlarged prostate, having performed on more than 150 cases using this technique at the Urology Department of ACC.

HMC was designated as a Center of Excellence out of three centers only in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The Rezum Treatment is the latest technology to treat an enlarged prostate without surgery and has been approved and included in international regulations and recommendations as its the first of its kind in the world. Its approved by US Food and Drug Administration. The procedure takes from 5 to 10 minutes, and the patient can leave the hospital on the same day.
