The Shura Council held Monday its regular weekly meeting, under the chairpersonship of HE Speaker of the Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim.
At the beginning of the session, the Council praised the success of the 20th Doha Forum, which was held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, under the title 'Transforming for a New Era'.
The Council referred to the speech of the Amir before the forum, in which His Highness affirmed the position of Qatar to take rational dialogue based on balancing common values and interests, along with mediation to resolve disputes by peaceful means, in a way that contributes to serving peace, stability and just solutions. The Council affirmed that the forum succeeded in launching a dialogue on the challenges facing the world, and promoted the exchange of ideas, policy-making, and making applicable recommendations.
Afterward, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser al-Fadhala read out the agenda of the session. The minutes of the previous session were ratified. Then, the Council discussed its budget for 2022, its organisational structure, and personnel regulations. After extensive discussions, the Council approved its budget, while it decided to complete the discussion of the organisational structure and personnel regulations in the next session.
The sessions work continued as the Council reviewed a report on the participation of the Council's delegation in the annual joint parliamentary hearing session between the United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in New York City on Feb 17-18 titled 'Building Political Support and Comprehensive Responses to Sustainable Recovery'.
The Council also reviewed a report on the visit of the Council's delegation to the European Parliament in Brussels from March 1-3. In this context, the Council praised those visits, stressing that they contribute to strengthening and developing joint parliamentary co-operation relations.
