PHCC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aspetar, a specialized orthopedic and sports medicine hospital for a Primary Care Sports Medicine partnership, advancing both parties commitment to education and excellence in clinical services. The MoU was signed by Managing Director of PHCC Dr. Mariam Ali Abdulmalik and Aspetar CEO Dr. Abdulaziz Jaham Al Kuwari, in the presence of many physicians and officials from both parties.



The PHCC-Aspetar MoU strengthens the Primary Care Sports Medicine education partnership between the two institutions and emphasises the considerable potential for authentic collaboration. It would provide a unique opportunity for PHCC Family Physicians to receive clinical training in a world class institution such as Aspetar specialising in an integrated sports medicine service delivery. This ensures a legacy in Qatar of highly qualified Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians.



The MoU describes Aspetar's provision of clinical training facilities and a world class faculty, including consultant Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians from all over the world. Benefitting from the joint expertise in the two institutions, PHCC will enroll successful Family Physician applicants in the training program for its specified duration. Ensuring its success, a joint Steering Committee will action the next steps and manage the deliverables of this agreement. This includes collaboration in conducting sports medicine and science research, ensuring the two parties unique contribution to the Qatar National Vision 2030 with the focus on the health sector.

For her part, the Managing Director of PHCC Dr. Mariam Ali Abdulmalik, said: "I am confident that this collaboration would yield qualified physicians in the field of Primary Care Sports Medicine, safeguard the health and safety of community members, prevent sport and activity-related injuries and illness, and provide the best treatment in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 with regard to primary health care.
