The Cabinet day approved the closure of the current Mesaieed landfill and the project to build a new landfill. It followed the Cabinet's approval of the recommendations of the ministerial working group concerned with studying the integrated national programme for solid waste management 2030, including the recommendation to implement the project to close the current Mesaieed landfill and the project to build a new landfill.
The integrated national programme for solid waste management in Qatar has been prepared in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy, the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, and the foundations of partnership with the private sector in the solid waste management sector.
The regular meeting of the Cabinet was chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti issued the following statement:

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet listened to the explanation given by HE the Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan bint Mohamed Al Kuwari on the latest developments related to curbing the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19). The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.

The Council then considered the topics on the agenda as follows:

First - Approval of the recommendations of the ministerial working group concerned with studying the integrated national program for solid waste management 2030, including the recommendation to implement the project to close the current Mesaieed landfill and the project to build a new landfill. The integrated national program for solid waste management in the State of Qatar has been prepared in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy, the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, and the foundations of partnership with the private sector in the solid waste management sector.

Second - Approval of:

1- A draft agreement for cooperation in the field of sports between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the State of Kuwait.

2- A draft air services agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of South Sudan.

3- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of diplomatic training between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the State of Qatar and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in the German Federal Republic.

4- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption between the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority in the State of Qatar and the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime in the Republic of Botswana.

Third - The Cabinet, through a presentation by HE President of the Planning and Statistics Authority, was briefed on the progress made in implementing the strategic plans of government agencies for the fourth quarter (Oct.-Dec., 2021), the progress of programs and projects at the overall level of ministries, and at the level of each entity, as well as the most important outputs and progress achieved in implementing the projects of those plans and their objectives, the most prominent challenges, and the recommendations issued in this regard.

HE Prime Minister directed Their Excellencies Ministers to work on implementing appropriate solutions to meet these challenges, in coordination with the Planning and Statistics Authority regarding the follow-up of project implementation.
