* Armenian Minister of Economy calls on Qatari private sector to take advantage of investment opportunities

The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan, called on the private sector in Qatar to learn about the investment climate, and to identify the opportunities available, especially in modern communication technology and in the areas of food security.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Armenian minister stressed the great status that Qatar enjoys in his country, and the desire to deepen co-operation with it in all fields.
In this context, the minister indicated that his first visit to Doha is in this direction, especially in light of Armenia's desire to develop trade co-operation with various Arab countries, and that the State of Qatar is among the important countries with which his country seeks to build a partnership.
In response to a question about the sectors in which Armenia wishes to co-operate with Qatar, the Armenian minister said that his country seeks to explore co-operation opportunities not only in the field of agriculture, but also in the field of energy, real estate, tourism and advanced technology, in which his country has differential advantages.
He pointed out that Armenia, with its regional economic agreements, can be a gateway to markets that include 100mn consumers, which requires building joint projects capable of penetrating these markets.
The minister also pointed out that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Armenia recently signed a letter of intent to encourage and develop co-operation between the two countries, in the field of agriculture and food security, and to encourage co-operation in other related fields.
It is worth noting that Qatar and Armenia are bound by a set of agreements and memoranda of understanding related to the avoidance of double taxation, trade, economic and technical co-operation, as well as the encouragement and mutual protection of investments, and cultural, agricultural and tourism co-operation.
