Qatar reiterated its call for all Sudanese parties to exert more efforts and give precedence to the voice of wisdom and national will to achieve the required political consensus and reach a common formula that represents all spectrums of the Sudanese people, paving the way towards achieving security and stability, and works to promote and protect human rights.
This came in the statement delivered by acting charge d'affaires of the Permanent Delegation of Qatar in Geneva Jawhara al-Suwaidi before the 49th session of the Human Rights Council during the enhanced interactive dialogue on the oral update of the High Commissioner on in Sudan, under item 2. Al-Suwaidi stressed Qatar's interest and keenness to promote and protect human rights in Sudan, its stability, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as Qatar's standing by the Sudanese people, its full support for their legitimate aspirations to achieve a comprehensive and just peace, and promote stability and development.
Al-Suwaidi welcomed the holding of the dialogue, expressing hope that it would contribute to the further promotion and protection of human rights in Sudan. She called for redoubling the efforts made by the Office of the High Commissioner in Sudan to provide technical support to build and develop capacities and assist the Sudanese parties, within the framework of the mandate of the Office, to achieve the required progress in improving the human rights situation, taking into account the main priorities, needs, and obligations of the Government of Sudan.
