The Shura Council held on Monday its weekly meeting, under the chairpersonship of HE Speaker of the Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim. At the outset of the session, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al-Fadhala read out the agenda of the session. The minutes of the previous session were ratified.
During the session, the council reviewed the supplementary report of its Services and Public Utilities Committee, regarding a draft law on the temporary expropriation and appropriation of real estate for the public benefit. After discussing the report, the Council decided to approve the aforementioned draft law as amended.
The council praised the efforts made by the Public Services and Utilities Committee in completing the report. On the other hand, HE Speaker of the Shura Council briefed the members on the visit of a delegation from the US House of Representatives to the Shura Council, and his meeting with them. HE al-Ghanim pointed out that during the meeting they reviewed the bilateral relations between Qatar and the United States, in particular with regard to co-operation in the field of parliamentary work between the Shura Council and the US House of Representatives and ways to strengthen it.
