Qatar University (QU) and Seashore Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which aims at strengthening co-operation and co-ordination in areas related to both entities so as to serve the educational process and support QU students to achieve integration between institutions of higher education and the private sector.
The MoU was signed by Dr Hassan al-Derham, president of Qatar University, and Salem bin Saeed al-Muhannadi, CEO of Seashore Group, during a ceremony held at QU, which was attended by officials from both parties.
The MoU aims at developing a framework for co-operation between QU and Seashore Group, including increasing co-operation opportunities in the areas of training, organisation of workshops, conferences and other bilateral initiatives.
In his speech on the occasion, Dr al-Derham said: “At the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between Qatar University and Seashore Group, we greet our guests from Seashore Group. We are pleased of the presence of national institutions and businesses in Qatar that contribute to the country's social and economic development. We appreciate the group's support towards Qatar University through this project with the Student Affairs Sector, and we look forward to working with more in the academic, industrial and economic sectors in the future.”
For his part, al-Muhannadi said: “This agreement affirms its attitude toward community collaboration with educational institutions in the State of Qatar as part of its community efforts. This partnership with Qatar University will help students cover their fees. We hope this co-operation will achieve its desired goals in order to enrich the educational experience and support Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
“The first of these partnerships will be with QU to benefit from experiences of the educational system in it as Seashore Group aims to contribute to strengthening the private sector role in the Qatari economy and creating opportunities and challenges that advance the development process."
Seashore Group covers various areas, such as iron, galvanisation, auto body, recycling, hydraulics, fuel injection system, etc, covering more than 14 areas.
