Director of Qatar Charity's Office in Burkina Faso Gallo Drissa, said that all operations carried out for patients were successful, noting that the latest campaign was an extension of Qatar Charity's efforts in the health field, which seek to instill hope in the souls of those who have lost sight.
This campaign, which was implemented in cooperation with the National Center for the Control of Blindness of the Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso, is the fourth of its kind, after previous campaigns succeeded in restoring sight to more than 1,500 people who were blinded because of what is known as cataract, at a total cost of more than one million Qatari riyals.
For his part, Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso Dr. Emmanuel Seni praised Qatar Charity's efforts for its humanitarian value and the benefit it brings to communities, the poor and the needy.
"We are in a society most of which suffers from low income, and many cannot afford the high costs of blindness treatment," he said.
In turn, Dr. Patti Sankara, Director of the National Center for Combating Blindness, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the philanthropists in Qatar for their support and generous donations, as well as Qatar Charity for its humanitarian efforts.
Qatar Charity has implemented many projects in Burkina Faso over the past years, including health and educational projects and others in the field of social housing, as well as social welfare efforts and the ownership of income-generating projects for the benefit of the poor, as well as running medical convoys to treat the poor, diagnose disease conditions, and distribute medicines for free.
