One of the Philippines’ sought-after entertainment celebrities has arrived in Doha to commence the shooting of the film ‘The Eventologist’.
Actor J C Santos will play the lead role in the film, which is based on a true story on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) living in Qatar. The filming will feature different scenic destinations in Qatar, which is home to more than 200,000 Filipinos.
‘The Eventologist’ is also the first full-length Filipino movie to be filmed in Qatar, according to the film's director, Oscar Yema, who announced that all preparations are now in place. Intensive filming will start as early as next week, said Yema, who assured that the project will strictly adhere to Qatar's health and safety protocols.
“I am loving it here already since I arrived. The Al Maha Services at Hamad International Airport (HIA) made me feel like a real VIP, courtesy of the ‘red-carpet treatment’ I received during my arrival.
“My hotel quarantine at the Warwick Doha was perfect. I will be here until the end of the month, so see you all soon,” Santos said.
The Filipino community also welcomed Santos’ visit to Qatar after filming was suspended for a long period because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Just as the local producers who crowdfunded the project have anxiously anticipated J C’s arrival here, members of the Filipino community in Qatar are delighted that he is here so that we can now resume filming,” said Joseph Timothy Rivera, chairman of the Association of Filipino Realtors & Entrepreneur Executives in Qatar (AFREEQ), who also serves as contracts underwriter and one of the line producers of the film.
‘The Eventologist’ is jointly produced by Advocacy Global Studios and Red Dot Films and is expected to be screened in cinemas worldwide and streamed on various platforms later this year.
