The 'Sports Security is Everyone's Responsibility' forum was held at Aspire Zone Foundation on Monday.
Organised by the 'You Matter' initiative of the Ministry of Interior in co-operation with AZF, the forum discussed topics related to the initiative, which is implemented by the Stadium Security Section at the Establishments and Authorities Security Department of the Ministry of Interior.

The initiative aims to enhance community awareness of stadium security, consolidating the security partnership between the society and security services in this context, and providing a role model in organising major sporting events, most importantly the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Director of the department, Brigadier Dr Ali Khajim al-Athbi, said the forum comes with the aim of exchanging experiences with the relevant authorities, and in line with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to strengthen the relationship with the community.
He noted that the initiative is part of the functions and competencies of the department which constantly seeks to develop its capabilities, train its human resources, enhance readiness to face challenges, and work within the system of the Ministry of Interior which seeks to achieve leadership regionally and internationally.
Supervisor of the "You Matter" initiative, Captain Saeed Jumaa al-Hitmi, highlighted the achievements of the initiative which was launched two years ago, pointing to the implementation of many workshops, lectures, field visits and educational programmes to raise awareness of security and safety procedures during sporting events.
He added that the initiative has managed, through these activities and events, to reach the targeted segments of the society to emphasise that sports security is everyone's responsibility.
Assistant Director of the Establishments and Authorities Security Department, Brigadier Jassim al-Hail, said the initiative's goal is to raise awareness of stadium security, employing its cumulative experiences in spreading the sports security culture among members of society, at a time when Qatar has become a global sports destination.
Khalil al-Jaber, Director of Sports Affairs at Qatar Olympic Committee and President of Qatar Swimming Association, explained that sports security is vital and an essential element for the success of sports tournaments. He highlighted the importance of the sports security awareness and education programmes carried out by the initiative.
The forum witnessed extensive discussions on ways to enhance and develop the initiative, and expand its partnerships to ensure more achievement in the awareness work in the field of sports security. (QNA)
