The "Sports Security is Everyone's Responsibility" forum was held at Aspire Zone Foundation on Monday.
Organised by the "You Matter" initiative of the Ministry of Interior in co-operation with AZF,
the forum discussed topics related to the initiative, which is implemented by the Stadium Security Section at the Establishments and Authorities Security Department of the Ministry of Interior with the aim of enhancing community awareness of stadium security, consolidating the security partnership between the society and security services in this context, and providing a role model in organising major sporting events, most importantly the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Director of the department Brigadier Dr Ali Khajim al-Athbi said that the forum comes with the aim of exchanging experiences with the relevant authorities, and in line with the Ministry of Interior's strategy which aims to strengthen the relationship with the community.
He noted that the initiative is part of the functions and competencies of the Department which constantly seeks to develop its capabilities, train its human elements, enhance its readiness to face all challenges, and work within the system of the Ministry of Interior which seeks to achieve leadership regionally and internationally by achieving more security stability and contributing to the development of work.
For his part, Supervisor of the "You Matter" initiative Captain Saeed Jumaa al-Hitmi highlighted the achievements of the initiative which was launched two years ago, pointing to the implementation of many workshops, lectures, field visits and educational programmes to raise awareness of security and safety procedures during sporting events.


He added that the initiative has managed, through these activities and events, to reach the targeted segments of the society to emphasize that sports security is everyone's responsibility.
Assistant Director of the Establishments and Authorities Security Department Brigadier Jassim Al Hail said that the initiative's goal is to raise awareness of stadium security, employing its cumulative experiences in spreading the sports security culture among members of society, at a time when Qatar has become a global sports destination.
Khalil Al Jaber, Director of Sports Affairs at Qatar Olympic Committee and President of Qatar Swimming Association, explained that sports security is vital and an essential element for the success of sports tournaments, stressing the importance of sports security awareness and education programmes carried out by the initiative.
He noted that there is a great strategy in the sports system in Qatar to host sporting events on an ongoing basis, pointing to the upcoming tournaments that will hosted by the state, which require great efforts from all partners, especially security men.
The forum witnessed extensive discussions on ways to enhance and develop the initiative, and expand its partnerships to ensure more achievement in the awareness work in the field of sports security.(QNA)
