Critically-acclaimed American artist and songwriter Maya Azucena will be conducting an empowering workshop on life, power and music at Centara West Bay Residences & Suites on March 2.
The workshop, titled “Unleash Your Power Through Music” and organised by the Doha Women Forum in collaboration with the US embassy in Qatar, will feature songs and storytelling, demonstrating the power of music in transforming lives.
The workshop is one of the many Doha Women Forum initiatives aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of women and youth in Qatar.
Azucena fuses indie-pop and contemporary rhythm and blues (R&B), along with passionate, blues-inspired vocals, to create music that uplifts the soul. She is well-known for her humanitarian outlook and global projects.
Based on a personal commitment to positively impact society through her talent, most of Azucena’s songs are anthems that lend a voice to self-worth, women and youth empowerment, overcoming obstacles, and stepping into our fearless selves.
In a statement, US embassy Charge d’Affaires Natalie A Baker said: “We are excited to welcome Maya Azucena to the Middle East for the first time and collaborate with local grassroot movements to highlight women in music and self-empowerment. This workshop with the Doha Women Forum allows for all to find common ground through music, storytelling, and self-expression.”
Doha Women Forum founder Conchita Ponce said: “It is a great pleasure to be able to bring a workshop that aims to transform our lives and increase our self-worth using music. Maya Azucena is a wonderful performer who aims to empower women and youth by focusing on finding and expressing their voice.”
