Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves paid a visit to Qatar National Library (QNL) on Thursday as part of his visit to the country. The PM was acquainted with the architectural structure of QNL, and its most important contents of books in various sciences, arts and literature. He was also briefed on a part of the heritage library.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of this visit, PM Gonsalves said he has visited Qatar 10 years ago, and he expressed his admiration for the extent of its progress and development on various levels, especially with regard to cultural and educational affairs, adding that he visited the Education City in Doha and found that the idea of this city is distinguished on the world level, and what it can do in strengthening ties between peoples and cultures, and enhancing the educational community in Qatar.
He said, "I have never seen anything like QNL before, and despite my visits to many libraries around the world, I have never seen anything like it, whether in terms of design and beauty in architecture, or in terms of its open spaces, books and used technology, this indicates the important addition it has made in the cultural life in the State of Qatar."
The PM said that QNL is a pioneering institution that provides its services to all in a way that enriches its contribution to the advancement of the knowledge society in the country.
