Mozambique President Felipe Jacinto Nyusi has called on Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities available in the East African country’s infrastructure, energy, gas, fisheries, transportation, agriculture, real estate development, and mining sectors.
Nyusi made the statement during a meeting with Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) Chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani on the sidelines of the president’s visit to Doha. The meeting aims to introduce Mozambique and promote its investment projects.
During the meeting, Nyusi met with HE Sheikh Faisal, who welcomed the president and highlighted the interest of the Qatari businessmen in co-operating with their counterparts in Mozambique.
Sheikh Faisal also expressed his interest in learning more about Mozambique’s investment climate, and stressed that the Qatari private sector “is always looking forward to exploring and searching for new investment opportunities.”
Nyusi stressed that Mozambique has become an attractive destination to a lot of investors, thanks to the large amounts of oil and gas reserves, in addition to its agriculture sector, which is one of the country’s leading industries.
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal expressed his interest in studying the market in Mozambique and its available investment opportunities, stressing out the importance of opening new markets and enhancing co-operation between both countries and building strong relations between them.
The volume of trade exchange between Qatar and Mozambique amounted to about QR71mn in 2021.
