The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and the National Service Academy (NSA) on Tuesday hosted the graduation of the second batch of the National Training Programme for Recruiters at a special ceremony at Miqdam National Service Camp.
The programme is being offered by Kahramaa for the second year in a row, a statement said
Engineer Abdullah Mohsen al-Wahidi, director of Shared Services Affairs at Kahramaa and Brigadier General Jassim Ali Al-Attiyah, Commander of the Joint Special Forces, along with the officials in charge of the programme from both sides were present.
The three-and-a-half-month long programme included training of 31 recruits from the 17th batch with an aim to provide national service recruits with basic knowledge in operating and managing water stations in the country for their use during emergency.
Divided into phases, the programme included intensive theoretical lectures that discussed the basics of operating and maintaining water stations, which were presented in the administrative training halls at Miqdam National Service Camp. The second phase, which spanned three weeks, covered the basics of electricity and water installations, and was held at the Kahramaa training workshop at Abu Hamour.
The third phase was devoted to comprehensive practical training on how to operate and manage water pumping stations, and the related workshops continued for two-and-a-half months. The recruits were distributed to 10 different water stations and trained by specialists on various operational processes and how to deal with emergency situations. They were trained on various mechanisms for delivering drinking water to consumers.
The integrated theoretical and practical sessions were supervised by a group of Kahramaa experts and engineers, who worked under the supervision of the Training Department in the Human Resources Department. This was in co-ordination with the departments concerned to improve the training plans and approved curricula and develop them according to the data available from the first version of the training, and the latest educational practices.
During the ceremony, five recruits were honoured for their excellence in technical and behavioural aspects throughout the training period. The participants expressed their full satisfaction with the content of the training and praised the educational methods used, stressing it represented a great opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills related to water pumping and distribution operations while enabling them to supplement the state's efforts in this sector and provide the necessary support in case of need.
The training programme comes within the framework of the partnership agreement signed by Kaharamaa with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to be the first government agency from outside the military sector to implement an initiative aimed at refining the non-military skills of recruits. The graduation of the first batch was held in February 2021. Kahramaa has affirmed its pride in this mutually fruitful partnership and its keenness to develop and expand its horizons in the future, the statement added.
