The second edition of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) has brought together a group of skilled and experienced artists who excel in painting purebred Arabian horses that “embody the nobility of history and Qatari traditions”.
These artists have been drawing inspiration from the ongoing KIAHF, creating works of great beauty and creativity, which derive their significance and splendour from the distinguished position occupied by the Arabian horse in Arab heritage, literature and history, the organisers have said in a statement.
The artists’ creativity take centre stage at the event as they put a spotlight on Qatar’s rich culture and heritage and “express it with multiple artistic visions”.
The organisers have set up a dedicated section for artists onhe waterfront of Katara, where they can showcase their works and creativity.
Each artist has his or her own unique way of presenting “the beauty and authenticity of the Arabian horse”, using different techniques and media: ranging from oil, watercolour and acrylic to lead and charcoal painting, or drawing on saddles.
Meanwhile, the horse-drawing competition at KIAHF 2022 also witnessed a huge turnout of visitors, who lauded the event for its “innovative artistic experiences, reflecting the beauty of traditions and the authenticity of the Qatari heritage”.
Visitors said they find the artists’ works impressive, featuring Arabian horses which serve “as a vital icon full of equestrian, heroic and patriotic meaning, and as a source of inspiration for many Qatari and resident artists”.
The artworks, the visitors noted, “have symbolic and aesthetic connotations”. They said they look forward to the launch of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival every year, which hosts various activities for artists and art enthusiasts.
