Huawei took part in Qatar’s National Sport Day by participating in a wide range of activities, "reflecting its commitment to promote active and healthy lifestyles for workers within the company as well the overall community".
"Supported by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, National Sport Day (NSD) is a reflection of the nation’s endeavours to educate the community on the risks associated with inactive lifestyles by promoting a culture of constantly practising sport and wellness activities," the company said in a statement.
It is an annual event that invites people from the community, government, institutions and entities to take part in a variety of health and fitness activities.
Organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the event in which Huawei took part was held at Al Bidda Park on Tuesday, opening its doors to participants from 8am until 4pm.
Liam Zhao, CEO of Huawei Gulf North, said: “In Qatar, we actively align with the national strategies to further promote the community life, as well with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s support to National Sport Day. Similarly, at Huawei, we are committed to drive a healthy and active lifestyle for our entire workforce as part of our CSR strategies. We believe a healthy living has positive impacts on the working aspect and motivation of employees, and we encourage everyone to play sports and implement fitness and wellbeing activities within their daily routines.”
