Qatar Chamber is keen to send a trade delegation to Oman to explore the available investment opportunities in the Sultanate’s various sectors, according to one of the chamber’s top officials.
This was raised by Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari during a meeting with Ishaq bin Khalfan al-Busaidi, the head of the Commercial Representative of the Sultanate of Oman in Qatar.
The two officials met yesterday at the chamber’s Doha headquarters to review commercial ties and how to enhance them, as well as ways to develop mutual investments between both countries' private sectors.
Al-Kuwari stressed that the commercial relations between both countries “are growing fast,” noting that Qatar has various successful investments and projects in Oman. He said Qatari businessmen are interested in learning about the investment opportunities available in Oman.
He said there is room for the private sector in both countries to develop their trade relations in various fields. Al-Kuwari also stressed that Qatar Chamber always encourages Qatari businessmen to invest in Oman and forge partnerships with their Omani counterparts.
Al-Kuwari said Qatar Chamber had organised a successful edition of the ‘Made in Qatar’ expo in Oman, which resulted in “fruitful conclusions” and large participation of businessmen and visitors. The chamber also held many visits for Qatari businessmen to Oman, said al-Kuwari, who assured that the visits helped in further developing commercial relations between the two countries.
“We are keen on organising a business visit for Qatari businessmen to Oman to review investment opportunities available there and meet with their Omani counterparts,” he emphasised.
Al-Busaidi said his visit to the chamber aims to co-ordinate and strengthen relations between the private sectors of “the two brotherly countries,” as well as to discuss ways to enhance co-operation between Qatari and Omani business owners and to introduce investment opportunities available in the Al Duqm Zone and in Oman’s various sectors like tourism, industry, agriculture, and fish farming sectors.
Al-Busaidi also underscored the importance of holding a Qatar-Oman business forum to gather businessmen and investors willing to do business in Oman and to review the most important opportunities in Omani projects.
