Qatar Charity (QC) has extended its sincere thanks and gratitude to philanthropists for successfully funding the Alamal City project for internally displaced Syrians as part of its “Warmth and Peace” campaign.
The QC, in parallel with the completion of the Alamal City project funding, continues implementing the project by constructing the city’s facilities and housing units.
The project is nearly 20% complete, and expected to be fully completed in 2023.
Nawaf Abdullah al-Hammadi, the QC chief executive's assistant for the International Operations and Programmes, thanked all the donors and philanthropists who contributed to the success and the complete funding of this project.
He said this project is considered to be a hope for internally displaced Syrians who live in challenging humanitarian conditions, with the city ensuring a dignified life for the beneficiaries.
The official noted that the ongoing “Warmth and Peace” campaign aims to alleviate the suffering of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the underprivileged by meeting their basic needs in the areas of shelter, food, health and education.
Alamal City is a multi-service city designed and guided by the 2021 Syria Humanitarian Response Plan to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The 280,000sq m city, located in Suran in the northern countryside of Aleppo, includes 1,400 housing units, schools, a mosque, kindergartens, a health centre, a market, and playgrounds for children.
"The city contains an integrated infrastructure to provide the IDPs with the necessary services, such as potable water, electricity and sewage networks, and roads," said Khaled al-Yafei, director of the QC’s International Programmes and Development department, adding that nearly 13,800 people are expected benefit from the city, which will be completed next year.
The QC has urged benefactors in Qatar to donate to the “Warmth and Peace” campaign to help the vulnerable in winter.
One can easily donate to the campaign through Qatar Charity’s website, app, branches and collection points located in malls and commercial centres, in addition to requesting for a “Home Collector” and dialing 44667711 to donate.
