The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 96th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin, which showed that the total number of ships arriving in Qatar's ports increased to 396 in December, a monthly increase of 8.5 percent, and an annual increase of 0.3 percent.

The bulletin, which monitors on a monthly basis the most important statistical changes in the country, also showed that the net cargo of ships increased in the month to 5,562 tons at a monthly rate of 52 percent, while the annual increase was about 5.1 percent.

Furthermore, among the most notable changes is the increase in the Market General Index (points), at a monthly rate of 2.1 percent (compared to November 2021), and at annual rate of 11.4 percent (compared to December 2020).

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.684 million during December 2020 to 2.677 million at end of December 2021.

Total electricity consumption during December 2021 was 2972.8 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 16.1 percent and an annual increase of 9.0 percent. While the total water consumption has reached 53452.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 0.1 percent and an annual decrease of 0.8 percent.

As for the Banking Sector, Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 608.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2021, an annual increase of 1.4 percent compared with December 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 974.1 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 7.6 percent compared to December 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 905.0 Billion Qatari Riyals.

The total number of registered new vehicles during December 2021 has reached 7212 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 4.8 percent and an annual increase of 23.8 percent.

Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 838 traffic cases were recorded during December 2021, showing a monthly increase of 12.0 percent and an annual increase by 33.2 percent.

Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 90 percent, followed by severe injuries by 9 percent. However, 11 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 1 percent of total traffic accidents cases.
