Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, secretary-general of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has met with Rajeh Hussein Badi, ambassador of Yemen to Qatar.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, executive director of the Relief and International Development Division at QRCS, and Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law at QRCS.

It discussed QRCS’s humanitarian operations across northern and southern Yemen, through its representation office in Sana’a, as well as the office recently opened in Aden to undertake humanitarian interventions for the benefit of local communities affected by the humanitarian crisis, in co-operation with United Nations agencies and Yemen Red Crescent Society, under the umbrella of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
They gave an overview of the results of the recent visit by an official delegation from QRCS’s headquarters in Doha to the Sana’a office, in co-ordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, in order to inspect the progress of work and enhance the implementation of the ongoing humanitarian activities there, in light of the humanitarian developments and the most pressing needs of Yemeni people.
The ambassador conveyed a message from Dr Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, commending the achievements of QRCS in Yemen. He offered all facilitation and eased procedures to ensure an even more rapid response to the difficult humanitarian situation, amid a looming famine in some parts of the country.
Al-Hammadi stressed QRCS’s permanent focus on Yemen with the aim of helping the Yemeni people to overcome the ordeal they have been going through for the past eight years. “QRCS is one of the few Arab humanitarian organisations operating in Yemen, despite the security and logistic challenges that sometimes delay the timely provision of necessary assistance,” he concluded.
