The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has recommended that individuals with Covid-19 infection, confirmed by a PCR or rapid antigen test during the Omicron wave, are eligible for a booster vaccination after the completion of three months from the date of infection. However, it is safe and viable for those who wish to have their booster dose one month after infection, the MoPH said in an advisory on social media Saturday.
The one-month period between infection and administration of the booster dose is needed to allow the individual to fully recover from the infection before receiving the vaccine. The MoPH advisory sought to answer the query as to when should infected people have the Covid-19 vaccine booster dose after recovery during the Omicron wave?
A total of 780,609 Covid-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered in Qatar to date. Overall, 5,777,396 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the programme, with 86.9% of the total population fully vaccinated with two doses.
Covid-19 booster doses are being administered at all 28 Primary Health Care Corporation health centres as well as the Qatar Vaccination Centre for Business and Industry in Bu Garn and the Covid-19 drive-through facility in Lusail.
