According to the daily, the CAA has issued a circular in this regard and said the fees will be applied with effect from April 1, and reflect on tickets issued on or after February 1.
The new charges mentioned in the circular are passenger safety and security fees, and air freight infrastructure fees.
The fees are as follows:
* Airport development fees - for all departing passengers, including transit up to 24 hours: QR60 per passenger.
* Passenger facilities fees - for all departing passengers, including transfers up to and including 24 hours: QR60 per passenger.
* Passenger safety and security fees - for all departing passengers, including transfers up to and including 24 hours: QR10 per passenger.
Exempted from these fees are children less than two years old without a seat, passengers transiting on the same aircraft and crew in service. Also on the exemption list are forced flight redirections due to technical difficulties, weather conditions or other valid reasons.
* Air freight infrastructure fees - for all incoming and transit cargo shipments, including mail and courier: QR10 per metric tonne. Shipments remaining on the same aircraft will not be subject to fees.
