The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has highlighted the progress made in the interlock works in Zone 3 of the Al Ebb & Leabaib Roads & Infrastructure Project, Package 1.
All works are scheduled to finish in the second quarter of 2022, Ashghal said in a tweet on Sunday.
Works have been completed in Zone 1, are nearing completion in Zone 2 and are under way in zones 4 and 5.
Hamad al-Bader, project director in the Roads Projects Department of Ashghal, said: "The percentage of work progress in Package 1 has reached over 70%. Upon completion of all five zones, it will serve 1,019 plots by providing 26km of roads, 52km of pedestrian and cycle paths as well as 5,185 car parking slots."
Package 1 of the Al Ebb & Leabaib Project will also upgrade the infrastructure utility services by providing 28km of ground and stormwater lines, 24km of foul sewer and 15km of TSE (treated sewage effluent) lines.
Ashghal is implementing a total of five packages in the area that will serve 4,890 plots.
