The pavilion of the Municipality Ministry and the Environment and Climate Change Ministry at the 31st Doha International Book Fair witnessed the release of the English edition of the 'Eco Tourism in Qatar' book, authored by Ahmed Hussein al-Mutawa, environmental consultant at the ministry.
The book was previously published in Arabic in 2019.


During the ceremony, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Eng Farhoud Hadi al-Hajri stressed the importance of the book and its role in raising environmental awareness and informing society of Qatar's efforts in preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability in line with Qatar National Vision.
He pointed out that the participation of the two ministries in the book fair is part of their efforts to spread awareness and community communication by displaying their various books, literature, and scientific publications, as well as introducing their achievements and the outcome of their work via the presentation of documentary films and introductory publications.
Al-Mutawa highlighted the great importance attached to the eco-tourism in the country, adding the book also reviews sports tourism, which is also witnessing a boom due to the 2022 World Cup.
Also, the author made it clear that the tourism industry is witnessing a tangible and rapid development, as the state has developed a comprehensive tourism plan to keep pace with the economic renaissance, and to emphasise building Qatar as a global tourist destination.
The event witnessed fruitful discussions on many issues and problems related to the environment and tourism and their relationship to the economic development and urban renaissance of Qatar.
It reviewed ways to achieve sustainable development while preserving natural resources for future generations.
Several concerned officials and environmental activists attended the event.
