Officials at the Police College have confirmed that the fourth batch of students nominated to the college, whose graduation was celebrated on Thursday, is a qualitative addition to the country's security sector and other military authorities, in light of the approved educational and training programmes for students that conform to the highest international standards.
Adviser to the Minister of Interior and Vice-President of the Supreme Council of the Police College, Major-General Dr Abdullah Yousuf al-Mal, said in a press statement on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony, that the Police College has an integrated educational and training system to prepare generations of police officers with the skills and capability to achieve all the objectives and tasks of the Ministry of Interior, especially in terms of the prevention and response to crime.
For his part, Police College director-general Brigadier-General Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti said that in the eight years since its establishment, the college has pursued scientific planning in management, training and academic curricula, and provided its students with an integrated educational environment supported by advanced technologies and qualified staff in teaching and training.
He said that the Police College provides the Ministry of Interior with a new batch of security cadres equipped with knowledge in the modern sciences with regards the field of law and policing, and have acquired practical and applied skills in the latest security systems.
Al-Sulaiti praised the college leadership and the training and administrative staff for implementing the approved programmes, allowing the college to assume a high position among its regional and global counterparts, and became a pioneer in its administrative, training and academic systems.
Police College assistant director-general Lieutenant-Colonel Dr Jabr Hammoud al-Nuaimi said that the college has devoted its efforts to developing and updating the training programmes in line with international standards, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of the Ministry of Interior and contributing to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He added that the college seeks, through the continuous development of its academic and training programmes, to achieve its mission of producing highly-skilled police officers able to carry out security tasks in a professional manner.
Al-Nuaimi affirmed the Poliec College’s keenness to harmonise the theoretical and practical aspects of training for the graduates.
In this context, he pointed out that the college is also focusing on the latest developments in the world of crime, especially in the area of cyber-crime.
On the training programmes, Lieutenant-Colonel Fahd Saeed al-Subaie, the head of the Training Unit, said that the college adopts the best training programmes at the regional and international levels, and is working to develop and build programmes applicable in the field for officer candidates to support the security sector.
He said that the number of academic hours acquired by the fourth batch of Police College graduates amounted to 130 hours of theoretical courses of all kinds, while the number of practical training hours reached 48 hours in the field of crime scenes and 60 other training hours in security departments.
These are in addition to the hours of sports training, which numbered up to 780 hours: 574 hours in fitness, 152 hours in self-defence, and 54 hours in swimming.
