The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Beaches and Islands Section of the General Cleanliness Department, has completed the second phase of the campaign to clean the northern and northwestern beaches.



The campaign, according to a statement by the ministry, lasted for two weeks starting from Al Reem Reserve. Large quantities of miscellaneous waste, estimated at approximately 105 tonnes were removed. These included wood, plastic and glass cans, two large boats and two small boats.
Also, an abandoned boat, 39 car tyres and a large iron tank were also removed along with six iron drums and one plastic drum. Eight animal carcasses were also recovered. The third phase of the campaign will be held soon.
