Turkish ambassador to Qatar Dr Mustafa Goksu stressed his country's keenness to participate in Doha International Book Fair in the framework of enhancing the cultural exchange between the two countries.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the fair yesterday, the ambassador said that Turkey was keen on participating in the Doha Book Fair annually, noting that Turkey was the Guest of Honour of the fair's 25th edition in 2015, and the opening then was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He said that Turkey's participation this year includes 18 publishing houses only due to the circumstance imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that they present different aspects about Turkish culture, including thought, literature, various sciences and human knowledge; which contributes to introducing the Arab reader to the Turkish culture.
On the cultural co-operation between the Turkish embassy and Qatar's Ministry of Culture, the ambassador noted the endeavour to consolidate this aspect, in an emphasis of the strength of the Qatari-Turkish relations in various fields.
In a related context, a symposium was held yesterday evening about enhancing the Arab-Turkish cultural exchange, within the activities of the cultural salon at the book fair.
