The Zakat Fund of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs provided QR14,680,214 aid in December for 416 eligible families inside Qatar.
Aids included the periodic and lump-sum, all of which are aids disbursed by the funds management to the eligible families registered with it in accordance with Shariah regulations. The amounts were distributed as follows: periodic aid that is provided monthly to deserving families at a value of QR9,883,572, and lump-sum aid, which is aid that is disbursed for one time or more according to families need, at a value of QR4,796,642.
The Head of the Zakat Funds department Fayez Moazi Al Shammari explained that the Zakat Fund takes into account the basic needs of the beneficiaries in disbursing this aid, and this is achieved through trained staff on the eligibility of these families until the Zakat reaches its beneficiaries.
The donors entrust the Zakat Fund administration with the task of delivering the zakat they pay to deserving families within the State of Qatar, Al Shammari said. So, the Fund makes every effort to achieve this task through the Zakat Banks Department to conduct social and field research for those applying for assistance and give each of the families the right to request assistance and give assistance to those who meet the conditions of the Shariah regulations. The Zakat Fund is the governmental body entrusted with the law to collect the Zakat funds and provide them to those who are eligible in accordance with the Shariah regulations, he added.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Zakat Fund administration has created a page on its website (www.zf.org.qa/help). Families wishing to request assistance can visit the website, view the required papers and documents, fill out forms and declarations, and upload the required documents to submit a request for assistance. After submission, a text message will be sent with the request number for follow-up.
Zakat performers can pay their zakat via the Zakat Fund website www.zakat.gov.qa offices and collection points spread across the country, and the Fund's bank accounts.
