* Education Ministry participates in Doha International Book Fair, hosts a bouquet of cultural events

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is participating with a distinguished pavilion in the 31st Doha International Book Fair, which started on Thursday at the Doha International Exhibition and Convention Center. The pavilion includes many educational events and activities that shed light on the history, development, and renaissance of education in Qatar since the '50s of the last century and the modern education system that the ministry is currently implementing.

Also, it offers a bouquet of events that review these stages through two sections -- Qatar between the past and the present -- and the second includes live and recorded activities displayed inside the pavilion. The pavilion witnesses activities throughout the exhibition days, where visitors can see a display of modern and developed Qatari curricula through glass boxes, old and modern education stamps that the Youth Center for Hobbies participated in, statistical reports, old educational certificates for education, and a mobile and talking robot to welcome visitors, developed by Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys (QSTSS).
The pavilion is also distinguished by displaying a collage of pictures and memories on education containing the most important information about its past, especially since Qatar considers education a real measure for monitoring the development of its society and people. In this context, Head of the Learning Resources Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Nawal al-Tamimi said that the ministry's pavilion in this session differs significantly from its participation in the book fair during previous years, especially since the pavilion includes a section to review the old educational system in Qatar, which includes many photos of old schools, as well as a review of the curricula, old school tools, the first school buildings and the history of their development over the years, noting that the pavilion also includes another section dedicated to modern education in Qatar.
Al-Tamimi explained that the pavilion also displays several activities during the days of the book fair, pointing out that every day will witness the presentation of many new heritage books and the organisation of various educational and cultural events. Al-Tamimi stressed that the pavilion is committed to applying all the precautionary measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of social distancing and keenness to wear a face mask, noting that parents were invited to accompany their children to events with the importance of adhering to the Covid-19 conditions in terms of reducing the number of attendance. She added that some school students will visit the pavilion.
