The 48th Conference of the General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) kicked off Tuesday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the participation of member agencies.
Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ahmed Said Jaber al-Rumaihi represented Qatar at the conference.



The participants in the conference discussed topics on the agenda related to FANA's professional and organisational work, as well as ways to develop the media performance of member agencies and FANA's activity during the coming period.
In a speech at the conference, the President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Dr Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran expressed hope that the outcomes of the conference and the efforts of the members would contribute to supporting the FANA march and that the decisions and recommendations of the conference would represent the start of a new stage.
He pointed out that the transformations in the media landscape imposed by the means and the contents of media messages necessitate the FANA members to develop work and advance the practical and professional aspect in the various activities of the federation, stressing the need to improve the FANA's mental image and global presence.
The participants unanimously elected President of SPA Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran as President of FANA.
