*2022-23 academic year classes to begin on Aug 16
Schools in Qatar will remain closed during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, scheduled from November 21 to December 18, going by a ministerial decision issued Monday regarding the annual calendar of schools for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The decision was issued by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, the official Qatar News Agency reported.
In accordance with the provisions of the decision, the staff will start work for the 2022-2023 academic year in schools on August 14, 2022, and students will begin classes on August 16.
Based on the ministerial decision, it is understood that schools will remain closed from November 20 until December 22 for the half-yearly vacation. The second semester will start on December 25.
The decision specifies the start and end date of all events, programmes and activities, including examinations and vacations, and the beginning and end of each semester.
