Nasser Ghanem al-Khelaifi, beIN Media Group chairman and President of the Paris Saint-Germain has been named as one of the most powerful people in international sport as part of SportsPro’s prestigious ‘Ten Influencers 2022’ annual list.
Al-Khelaifi, who is also the chairman of the European Club Association, tops the list for his efforts towards driving and shaping the global sports agenda in the year ahead, positioned alongside sports leaders such as President and Chief Executive of Discovery David Zaslav.
SportsPro in its ‘Ten Influencers 2022’ annual list said about al-Khelaifi: “The 48-year-old was among those to rally against the short-lived formation of a breakaway super league, a stance that later saw him elevated to the role of chairman at the European Club Association. That job, coupled with his position on the UEFA executive committee, will no doubt give al-Khelaifi a significant say in the shape of European football moving forward.”
Along with the al-Khelaifi, the others in the list are Katie Sadleir, Chief Executive, Commonwealth Games Federation; Michael Rubin, Chief Executive, Fanatics; Donata Hopfen, Chief Executive, German Football League; David Zaslav, President and Chief Executive, Discovery; Yasir al-Rumayyan, Governor, Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and Chairman, Newcastle United; Kelly Simmons, Director of Women’s Professional Game, Football Association; Kris Marszalek, Chief Executive, Crypto.com; Agnès Callamard, Secretary-General, Amnesty International; and Carsten Koerl, Chief Executive, Sportradar.
