All museums and exhibitions within Qatar Museums (QM) will remain open with full capacity, provided that all visitors have completed doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, it was announced.
QM, in a post on its social media pages, said that visitors must “book tickets online before visiting and commit to showing the (golden) app and wearing a mask.”
The recent Cabinet decision, which aims to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19 by continuously implementing precautionary measures, allows museums and public libraries to function with full capacity, provided all visitors are fully vaccinated.
During the onslaught of the Covid-19 in 2020, museums and exhibitions were temporarily closed to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. However, QM found a way for people to explore and visit virtually using their electronic devices.
According to QM, persons with visual impairments can also access the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) through its tactile stations, assistive technology and braille interpretation.
During World Braille Day on January 4, QM invited Ikrami Ahmad, an Assistive Technology Specialist at the Qatar Social and Cultural Centre for the Blind, “to help us understand Braille's history, how it is read and its prevalence in Qatar.”
QM is also currently hosting several exhibitions, including the ‘American Muscle Cars in Qatar’ at NMoQ running until February 15 (presented as part of the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture); “Virgil Abloh: ‘Figures of Speech’” at the Doha Fire Station, which will conclude on March 31; Christian Dior Designer of Dreams at M7 (Msheireb Downtown Doha), taking place until March 31; and ‘Jeff Koons: Lost in America’ at QM Gallery Al-Riwaq, which will run until March 31, among others.
QM announced that a series of interactive workshops and networking opportunities dubbed “Teachers Teaching Teachers” is also set to take place soon.
Besides virtual tours to NMoQ, QM is also holding different family activities and workshops on calligraphy, ‘Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art’ (online), ‘Research Skills and Fake News’, ‘Create your Fashion Look Using Flower Petals’, Feed the Birds’, and many more.
