Calls to get a Covid-19 booster dose in Qatar have received a positive response as many businesses urged their employees, particularly those who completed at least six months after the second dose, to be vaccinated.
It was reported earlier that physicians in the country are urging the public “to get the booster dose of the vaccine at the earliest possible”, which ensures long-term protection from the virus (including its latest variant, Omicron) and prevents its spread.
Those who work at offices, malls, shopping centres, supermarkets, hotels, and restaurants, among other business establishments, were also instructed to immediately schedule and get the booster dose, it is learnt.
“We have already given necessary instructions to all our staff to take the booster dose as urgently as possible,” said an official from LuLu Group, which has a large number of employees.
Movenpick Hotel Doha’s Public Relations and Communications assistant manager Ritika Ramani said that their Human Resources Department is encouraging staff to get the booster shot, especially those who had received the second dose six months ago.
Like any restaurant that offers dine-in and takeaway, many popular eateries in Doha have also urged all their staff – including delivery crews and cooks – to get the booster dose.
An employee at a popular eatery chain underlined the importance of wearing face masks and constant hand washing for added protection, but he stressed that getting a booster dose "further safeguards us and our customers”.
He encouraged all his colleagues and Nepali compatriots in Doha to get the booster dose, saying “it is safe based on my experience and never be afraid of the minor side effects, which are not severe.”
“As for the mall staff employed by the owners, agents, all staff are encouraged to vaccinate and automatically take the third dose when appropriate and advised to do,” Doha Festival City general manager Robert Hall told Gulf Times.
“We constantly advise and recommend safe working for both personal and public protection and have strict checks on staff health and welfare including regular checks for those staff who, by personal choice might not vaccinate in accordance with ministry regulations and advice.
“All public-facing staff are vaccinated," he added.
