The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) under the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs continues to hold activities for communities in Qatar. Fanar recently organised sports, entertainment and educational events with the participation of about 220 reverts.The event, held in co-operation with the Qatar Sports Club, is part of its ongoing efforts to reverts and communities residing in Qatar of various nationalities, according to an official statement from Awqaf.These events were organised as part of the social and educational programmes Fanar provides to converts affirming its mission of advocacy and humanitarianism and its belief in the importance of providing an integrated environment that combines entertainment, education and spiritual and social rehabilitation.The events included football and volleyball matches along with recreational games such as tug-of-war and cultural competitions aimed at enhancing religious knowledge and Islamic identity among participants in an atmosphere of brotherhood and friendship. The events witnessed widespread participation from new converts from Asian and African communities. They expressed great happiness with these activities, which provided them with the opportunity to meet, communicate, and express their sports interests in an atmosphere of respect and equality regardless of their nationalities and languages.Fanar officials said that this initiative is part of a series of integrated programmes, held throughout the year. These programmes aim to embrace reverts and support their positive integration into society by providing religious, cultural, psychological and social care and offering programmes that address their real-life needs. "The co-operation with Qatar Sports Club reflects the community’s commitment to supporting its mission and the participation of state institutions in fulfilling social responsibility. This enhances the impact of advocacy and cultural programmes and serves communities residing in Qatar in a comprehensive and humane manner,” the statement said.
