Ambassador of Uganda to Qatar Dr Stephen Chemoiko Chebrot applauded Qatar's developments that are taking place and organising major sporting events. The ambassador applauded Qatar for handling major events such as the 2021FIFA Arab Cup and the hosting of FIFA World Cup in 2022.
The ambassador continued to say that Qatar's strategic relations with Uganda have continued to grow for the benefit of the two nations in various areas, adding "Qatar and Uganda enjoy strong bilateral relationships in areas of political, economic, and cultural."
He also hailed Qatar for bouncing back very quickly, despite the Covid-19 pandemic which had crippled many activities worldwide."
Qatar's economic indicators confirm the success of its economy in recovery from the impact of Covid-19. This demonstrated that Qatar had a robust economic foundation which could withstand global economic challenges," he added. He also applauded Qatar for the ongoing preparations for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. On the occasion of the National Day, the ambassador of Uganda extended his congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, noting that this day comes in commemoration of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
