Ambassador of Vietnam in Qatar Tran Duc Hung stressed on the strength of the Qatari-Vietnamese relations and the joint keenness to develop them towards broader horizons for the benefit of the two countries and their friendly people.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National Day, he said that over the past years, the relations between Vietnam and Qatar have seen significant progress in various fields of politics, economy, investment, labour and education.
To illustrate, Ministers of Foreign Affairs have recently met each other on the sideline of the UNGA76 in New York to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, he said, adding that bilateral co-operation between the two countries continues to develop as the two-way trade of volume has increased significantly.
Vietnam and Qatar possess advantages to complement each other effectively in socio-economic endeavours, he noted.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the relevant bodies of Qatar, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Qatar Civil Aviation, Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport have provided valuable support and assistance for the Embassy of Vietnam in Qatar to organise flights to repatriate hundreds of Vietnamese citizens, he said.
He declared his confidence that with the momentum of excellent relationship between the two countries, there are potentialities for bilateral co-operation in the future. Vietnam and Qatar are looking forward to celebrating the 30th anniversary of the bilateral relations with many activities in various fields in 2023, he added.
With the attention of the leaders of the two countries, the relations between Vietnam and Qatar will be further developed and strengthened in the years to come, he said.
The Vietnamese ambassador praised the great development of Qatar in various fields and Qatar's influential role in the international scene, saying that he has been in Qatar for almost one year but Qatar has strongly impressed him with its rapid developments and increasingly important role in the region and the world as well.
Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar will achieve more achievements and will become more advanced, stable and prosperous, he said.
The ambassador congratulated HH the Amir, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the government and the Qatari people on the occasion of Qatar's National Day in commemoration of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani,
The ambassador also praised the effective procedures and measures taken by Qatar to face coronavirus, noting that since the beginning of the Covid-19 spread in March 2020, the State took a set of flexible proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus, accompanied by financial stimulus policies for the affected sectors in an early response to any future repercussions or consequences of the pandemic.
These policies have significantly contributed to the resilience of Qatar's economy.
"We highly appreciate the success of the State of Qatar in making the remarkable recovery in the economy as well as controlling the Covid-19 pandemic to protect the lives of its people including hundreds of thousands of expatriates as well," he added.
The ambassador was deeply impressed with Qatar's great efforts in completing preparations for FIFA World Cup 2022 a year ahead of this event.
This event is one of the greatest sport events of the world for the first time to be held in the region, which can tell us all about Qatar's role, prestige and prosperity on the regional and international arena, he said.
"The Arab Cup represents a rehearsal for FIFA World Cup 2022. We strongly believe that with great care mentioned above, Qatar will be successful in hosting one of the most important events in the world next year," he said.
