Pakistan ambassador in Doha Syed Ahsan Raza Shah has praised the great development that Qatar is witnessing in various fields under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and has wished the State further progress and prosperity.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, the ambassador said that it gives him great pleasure to witness unprecedented developments and the remarkable successes of Qatar under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir in the political, economic, cultural, sports and other fields.
He praised the development policy in Qatar, which balances between preserving the country's glorious history, ancient cultural heritage, authentic tradition, progress and modernisation in line with the requirements of the times.
He said that the leadership of this great country focused on human, social and economic development and has made great strides in the field of education and scientific research, in addition to establishing prestigious educational and research centres that contribute to the intellectual development of the Qatari community. He highlighted the development in infrastructure, describing it as a model to emulate, and said it matches the infrastructure of the most advanced countries in the world.
On the diplomatic front, he pointed out that Qatar emerged as an important pivotal centre for resolving conflicts and launching peace initiatives, reflecting its strong presence and effective contribution to co-operation and dialogue at a multilateral level, while adhering to the common values and goals of the countries of the world. He expressed admiration for the policies and measures taken by Qatar to confront Covid-19, as well as the efforts made to address the repercussions, which accelerated the recovery and enabled Qatar to become one of the few countries around the world that succeeded in dealing with the crisis and its repercussions.
Regarding the country's preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, he said that Qatar emerged as a major sports centre and is fully prepared to host the tournament in a decent manner, adding that organising the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in conjunction with this year's National Day will be a testament to Qatar's readiness and its preparation to organise the World Cup next year in a wonderful way.
He added it would be unprecedented for the FIFA World Cup to be held outside its traditional venues, which is a proof of Qatar's growing position, stressing his great confidence that this tournament will be the best ever.
On the Qatari-Pakistani relations, he affirmed that the two countries enjoy very close and strong bilateral relations, which were enhanced by the mutual high-level visits during the past three years that had a positive impact at the diplomatic, political levels and strengthened trade and investment relations between the two sides.
He also indicated that bilateral relations between Qatar and Pakistan are getting stronger in all fields, and the number of investment proposals are currently being worked on by both sides, adding that both sides are working on holding bilateral political consultations and other high-level engagements in the near future.
