The Executive Education Centre (EEC), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is co-operating with the Qatar Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) to deliver an executive training programme for 30 leaders from various Qatar-based charitable institutions.
The leadership empowerment programme, specially tailored for mid-level leaders, consists of five training modules over a period of as many months.
The first unit was delivered on December 5-6.
Titled *Analytical Thinking in the Charitable Sector, the course was presented by Dr Evren Tok, assistant dean of Innovation and Community Engagement and associate professor of Islam and Global Affairs at HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies (CIS), with EEC executive director and HR-certified trainer Aphrodite Hammad, and Dr Dalal Assouli, assistant professor and programme co-ordinator of the Master of Science in Islamic Finance programme at the CIS.
Participants were trained in the methods for developing analytical thinking skills to manage a range of professional situations.
The session covered the characteristics of effective analytical thinking and its requirements as a cognitive ability for workers in the charitable sector.
Cognitive analytical thinking and knowledge building strategies were also highlighted.
The session touched upon different types of psychological and practical pressures in charitable work as well as the strategies needed to overcome them.
The RACA was established in 2014 as the regulator of charities in Qatar.
RACA Administrative and Financial Affairs head Maryam Issa al-Fadala said: “Specialised training programmes assist the RACA in providing continuous support to the charitable organisations who benefit from our services.”
“We are delighted to work with the HBKU’s EEC to build important leadership skills that will strengthen institutional governance and raise the level of efficiency and effectiveness of charitable and humanitarian work in Qatar, which is part of our mandate,” she added.
