*Ghanaian ambassador: Qatar, Ghana Enjoy Strong Relations and Have Common Will to Strengthen Them
Ghana's ambassador in Doha Emmanuel Enos has stressed the strong friendly relations between his country and Qatar, pointing out that there is a common will to advance them towards horizons of co-operation in various fields.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said: "Over the past few years since the opening of resident diplomatic missions in each other's capitals, many agreements have been signed in various sectors to further enhance the relations between Ghana and Qatar.
"I must admit that, one of the important steps in actualising the aspirations of these agreements shall be through promoting the people-to-people relations between Qataris and Ghanaians."
He added: "Remarkably, Qatar Airways now flies directly to Accra from Doha and combined with its existing Air Cargo services, strong foundations are being put in place to promote people-to-people relations as desired."
Regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and Qatar's efforts on the economic level, he said: "In the case of Qatar, the economy has remained resilient due to the visionary and wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, supported by the effective government machinery in delivering the bold policies and programmes aimed at mitigating the adverse impact of the pandemic on the economy and by extension the people."
On Qatar's preparations for the World Cup Qatar 2022, he said: "Let me commend the Government of Qatar for all the preparations towards the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup next year. I have personally been present at the opening of some of the venues for hosting the forthcoming FIFA World Cup. I believe that adequate provisions have been put in place to deliver a successful FIFA World Cup, come next year."
To conclude, the ambassador said: "It is my profound pleasure to congratulate the government and people of Qatar on the joyous occasion of the National Day of Qatar. I also have the singular honour to thank the people of Qatar for their hospitality in hosting the Ghanaian community which continues to re-dedicate itself to the common aspirations for peace, stability, progress and prosperity in Qatar."
