The Kerala Business Forum (KBF) recently held a webinar on ‘Meet the Legend: Session 2’ on Zoom and was attended by more than 150 members, who learned and interacted with different captains of industry.
“African retail legend,” Ramachandran Ottapath, co-founder and CEO of Choppies Enterprises in Botswana, was the event’s keynote speaker. Ottapath hails from Kerala, India, and founded the group in 1996. The company expanded to Kenya, Zambia, and South Africa, and has more than 166 hypermarket chains across Africa.
Choppies is a listed company in the Botswana Stock Market. Ottapath said there are a lot of business opportunities across Africa, especially in the infrastructure and manufacturing sector. The government is taking many steps to attract more foreign investors to Africa and ease of doing business, he explained.
KBF president Shanavas Bava presided over the meeting, while KBF general secretary Nihad Mohamed Ali welcomed the gathering. Kimi Allexander delivered the vote of thanks, while KBF training coordinator Varghese Varghese moderated the event and introduced the keynote speaker. Since its reception, KBF has been rendering excellent services to the Indian business community in Qatar consistent with the organisation’s objectives. One of its major activities is the conduct of the regular managerial and business seminars and training sessions to empower the business community.
