The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has organised the ‘FINNOVATION Summit on Innovation’, which gathered nearly 100 chapter members, past chairpersons, and dignitaries.
Jafer Us Sadik, president of the Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC), was the chief guest and was introduced by DCICAI chairperson Nirlep Bhatt.
Sadik said the chapter and IBPC will continue to collaborate by organising events, conferences, and knowledge-sharing sessions for the benefit of businessmen and professionals.
Bhatt highlighted the activities of the chapter and how its more than 400 members are contributing to the “ever vibrant and progressive” Qatari economy. He also discussed and encouraged attending the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) 2022, which will be organised in India for the first time from November 18-21, 2022.
The event will be hosted by the ICAI and sponsored by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). More than 6,000 professionals from 130 countries are expected to attend, said Bhatt.
Padma Shree Awardee T V Mohandas Pai, who is chairman of Manipal Global Education, discussed the topic ‘India – A Startup Nation’, citing the robust startup ecosystem of India, which is the third-largest in the world with more than 55,000 startups and aims to create $10tn economy.
He also analysed startups and the astounding value creation to the economy by more than 77 unicorns in India. “Digitisation and innovation will further strengthen startups and will put India on the high growth trajectory,” Pai said.
Kamlesh Tibrewal introduced Guru Prasad, who conducted a session on ‘Value of Valuation & Valuation of Assets’, during which he introduced how the concept of asset is evolving.
Guru also analysed the market and income approach of valuation techniques, and motivated the audience to develop a career in valuation by constantly up-skilling and adapting new learning.
Chapter secretary Vignesh Kalyanaraman introduced Rajiv Hira who conducted a session on ‘Changing Landscape of Compliance Framework’ with special emphasis on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Combatting Financing Terrorism provisions in Qatar. He explained the factors that trigger suspicion of AML and analysed the provision of Qatar’s Law No 20 of 2019.
