The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has inaugurated the Georgia artistic corner, in the presence of Georgian Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nunu Mitskevich.
Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said that Katara is keen to build bridges of communication between cultures and peoples through these artistic corners, which are the fruit of co-operation relations with several embassies in the country, pointing out that Georgia's artistic corner carries cultural and human dimensions in line with Katara's vision of art and culture.
Mitskevich expressed her happiness to attend the inauguration of the corner for her country in the Katara, indicating the importance of language in Georgian culture and its relationship to identity, and thanked Katara for providing various opportunities for co-operation.
Georgia's ambassador to Qatar Nikoloz Revazishvili said that the Georgian corner is represented by a statue in the form of a tree symbolising life and immortality, created by the well-known Georgian artist Rezo Khasia.
The statue includes 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet with 33 capsules that form the central part of the sculpture, as a symbol of Georgian culture, noting the fruitful cultural cooperation projects with Katara. (QNA)
