Area 28 of Toastmaster International’s District 116, Division G conducted a virtual confluence meeting recently.
Area 28 takes pride in having one of those areas with a unique composition of clubs. It has one advanced club with maximum number of distinguished toastmasters, namely ICC Advanced, one community club for Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors Club namely SLQS, one corporate club of KPMG and there is the new addition of one online speciality club, Club ToastEd, for people from learning and development domain. Bringing them together and have a confluence meeting was quite an experience.
Rihan Rehman from KPMG club took over the reins as toastmaster of the day. Speakers Kiruthiha from SLQS and Idrak Khan from KPMG club were evaluated by Ameerudeen Moulana and Anita Samanta.
The occasion was graced by a keynote session of Dr Adil Malia on: 'Leadership Paradigms in Shifting Times'.
Dr Malia, CEO of a business management consultancy, has a degree in Commerce, a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
He has also attended the 'Coca-Cola Wharton School' Advance Management Programme and has been bestowed a 'Causa Honoris' Doctorate in Philosophy.
Malia has over four decades of corporate experience in India and overseas, working in large reputable professionally managed national and multinational companies such as Godrej, GE, Marks & Spencer, Coca-Cola and Essar.
Ramya Sri from SLQS Club conducted a table topic session. General evaluation session was conducted by M I Farid from ICC Advanced Club.
The meeting was supported by Ahilan, Mudita (SLQS), Juliet (Club ToastEd) and Ishana (KPMG). Christopher Almeida was Zoom meeting host and confluence meeting manager.
Area 25 is led by area director Deepti Potnis.

Idrak Khan was awarded the best speaker, Anita Samanta best evaluator, Juliet best table topic speaker and Rihan Rehman the best segment host.
